1000 Minutes of Bach Music in the Thomaskirche of Leipzig

St.Thomas’ church or Thomaskirche in Leipzig took part in the festivities for the 1000 years of the city and offered a Marathon of Bach music in its interior.

1000 Minutes of music composed by Bach were offered free of charge in the church where Bach himself used to be a Cantor. Various organists, singers and other musicians offered a rich program, free of charge for the inhabitants of Leipzig and tourists alike. One could come and go during the day, listen and sometimes sing along with the choir. The priest tirelessly present till midnight, introduced the artists, made short comments on the pieces and invited the congregation or, in this case, the audience, to pray from time to time.

It was a very interesting event, a precious present for people who love classical music and the work of J.S.Bach in particular.
